1993 Ford Explorer the bottom brake lights aren't working, have already checked brake light switch?

the running lights, blinkers, hazard lights, and reverse light works. I have already changed the brake light switch, and checked the fuses.

First, check the bulbs. Make sure they're the right ones (dual vs single filament). If you put single filament bulbs in place of dual filament ones, you'll short circuit the brake lights and the taillights.

If the bulbs are the right ones and they're in good shape, check for power at the sockets with the brake pedal depressed. If power is good, check to see if the body of the socket has a good ground.

There's not much else to the circuit. Unless you've got some kind of wiring problem, I'd concentrate on the sockets.

By the way, do you have a trailer hitch with the wiring connector? If so, take a good look at it, too.

ADAM G IS CORRECT BUT YOU NEED A 5$ 12V TEST LIGHT, THE GREATEST TOOL IN THE WORLD FOR AUTO ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING
you replaced the stop lite switch, but did you test it to see if it closes and sends a signal to the rear of the vehicle, when you push on the brake? with a 12 volt test lite, check for power at the stop-lite switch on only one wire, then push on the brake pedal and both wires should have power. my guess, you wont have any power to the switch at all, because the power feed wire is broken just above the brake pedal/switch area. the two wires flex EVERY time you apply the brakes, and finally break. ive repaired dozens of stop lite switch wires on ford trucks and exploders
