Does anyone know what would cause the abs light to come on a 2000 chevy astro after changing the front rotors?

I changed the front rotors, bearings, and brakes on my 2000 Chevy Astro, and now my abs light AND brake warning light stays on. The vehicle stops fine without pulling, the brakes feel good, the pedal is strong, and the abs brakes are obviously working because you can't %26quot;lock them up.%26quot; The only thing I did to the sensors was wipe the old bearing grease off of them... I'm puzzled.

is your van two wheel or four wheel drive because you either didnt get rotors with the abs tone rings on them if its two wheel drive or you didnt get the correct bearings if its four wheel drive the rotors on the two wheel drive van has a toothed ring on the area where the grease seal is on the inside of the rotor the four wheel drive bearing has the sensor attached to it usually on aftermarket bearings so you would have had to string the wiring and connect it so i am guessing that you have a two wheel drive van and probably got the wrong rotors from the part store compare them to your old rotors if you still have them could possibly have the tone rings on there but with the wrong number of teeth

Maybe it's not ABS but really abs, and your vehicle is just appreciating you and the recent stomach crunches you've been doing. Take it as a compliment.
was the light on before you changed them? if so it has to be cleared off of the computer in your car. if its not cleared then they will stay on because something is different. if it wasn't on before i would recommend having someone look at to see if there is a new problem.
If you used the correct replacement rotors, most likely you moved the sensor slightly out of position when you cleaned it off!

A computer scan will tell you what sensor is causing the problem!
You may have damaged one of the ABS sensors inside the wheel well.
you have to clear the codes when you do any kind of work like that.
