Why does my brake light come on and the steering wheel gets real hard to turn and the car turns off?

I have a 2004 Nissan Altima and at times it turns off. The brake light comes on, on the dashboard and the steering wheel gets real hard usually only allowing me to pull over the left hand side and the whole car shuts down. I taught it was because i needed and oil change but it kept doing it even after.

there is a recall on that problem they need to change the crank sensor check with your local dealer they might fix it for free

The dash lights coming on and the loss of steering is because the car is cutting off. That is normal you don't have power steering when there is no power. Needing an oil change will not make the car die, you have a bigger problem. You need to get it to a shop.
