On a VW you open the interior trunk panel and there will be the back of the light. There is a large plastic cover the size of the light. It should have a tab to remove. When you unsnap the cover all of the bulbs for the light will actually be in the cover. The blown one is the silver or dark grey one. Just pop it out and a new one in and snap everything back together.
