Does a mechanic need a special advice/tool to turn off the 2003MercedesE320 brake warning light?Details below?

The warning display is not a %26quot;red light%26quot; but a text in the middle of the speedometer that reads: %26quot;Brake Service Warning. Visit workshop?%26quot; If the only thing the car needs is a change of the brake fluid, will this display disappear by itself when the brake fluid is changed? Or does the mechanic (non-dealer) need a special tool or device to turn off the warning? Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Depends on what is wrong. In the case of the early W211 chassis, it could very well be the SBC pump which has reached its threshold limit and the only fix is to replace it. Contact your Benz dealer. This pump is problematic and Mercedes did extend the warranty for these units because of this. This may be covered under warranty for you.

BTW, a brake fluid warning will only come on if the fluid is low. There is no warning nor reminder light to tell you the fluid is old. It's part of the regular maintenance schedule to change the brake fluid every 3 years.
